My Perfect Date

Hubby's away with work and Sophie was at Grans on Monday so Caleb and I plodded over to Marks and Spencer and got the 'Dine for 2 for £10' deal for our dinner.

We had such a lovely walk round the shops and came back hungry and ready to sit down to eat. I lit the candles and put on music and we sat and ate. He ate every scrap and was the best dinner date I've had in a long time.

Kelvin Grove - Our Best Family Day out

On Sunday of this week before my Hubby departed for his training course we decided at the last minute to go for a lovely family day out. I needed some cheering up and he wanted some quality family time. We firstly thought about taking the kids to the farm park locally but it wasn't open so we started looking around for other places. Sophie had been recently to Kelvin Grove with her grandparents and said she would love to go again and thought Caleb would love it too as he loves animals and dinosaurs. So we got ready and set off to go.

I hadn't been since primary school when I lived in Glasgow and was really quite excited. Often a day away and with the family can lift my spirits more than anything so I couldn't wait to get there.

We arrived at around 12pm and got a guide brochure and got going round. Firstly we came to a room with a spitfire plane suspended from the ceiling and lots of huge animal exhibits and that was it, Caleb and I were smitten. Job done.

We spent a grand total of 3 hours going round all the exhibits and art gallery and Caleb plodded round on his own two little legs and had the best time. He paid great attention to everything, played with all the interactive bits for kiddies and loved every second.

The wheel makes the fish spin.  AAAMMAAAZZZING

Its blurred as he was running but I love how this shows how tiny he was running around.

Sophie just adored spending quality family time and enjoyed running around after her little brother. They were all a joy to be around.

My Babies

With free admission and only a pound for the carpark for 4 hours it is THE place to go on a family day out in Glasgow. We spent a grand total of £15 and most of that was on lunch in the cafe. I would have happily spent more time and money on such a perfect day out. If  Hubby hadn't had to rush back to pack and leave for his course we could have happily seen more. I hope to go back soon.

If you're ever in Glasgow I advise you to go. It is lovely.

Simple Pleasures - Something Small to Make My Day

Do you ever have a day where things are good? A day where everything makes you smile? A day where there is just something that could put the icing on the cake for you? Well, yesterday I had the best day I've had in a long time. It was productive, Caleb was the joy he is and we just had such a lovely time together.

When we were out later on in the day we popped to a DIY shop to get some plaster to fill the holes in the walls in here from all the work that's gone on and I saw this......

.....so I bought it. It doesn't go with my colourscheme at all, but hey, I'm allowed to be impulsive am I not??

I love it and it really made my day.

Ewan 'Our' Dream Sheep.

This my Mummy friends is Ewan The Dream Sheep from www.easidream.com and he rocks the worlds of babies and toddlers. He is an amazing must have and at £29.99 hes immense value for money when you see what he actually does.

We first heard about Ewan in twitter and I was intrigued. Some people claimed he was even loved by 5 year olds and up. I firstly ordered him out of curiosity. It couldn't be true that a cuddly sheep could cause such a sensation amongst the mummies. He arrived just in time when Caleb was 13 months and days away from a horrific bought of Noro Virus. He was sick for nearly two weeks and halved his body weight but we had only one sleepless night the first night and after that all we had to do was turn on Ewans harp leg and it was like a miracle. He would settle instantly. At this time we were amazed. We wondered a bit if it was a one off and he would maybe grow too old for him to work quite soon being a near toddler, but he came in handy too many times to count as next came the molars. Poor Caleb was so unhappy a lot of nights and as soon as the harp music went on he would lie happily and stare at Ewan. Even when he didn't lull Caleb back to sleep he would make him settled and happy. We are in awe of him. I can't count the amount of times we have relied on Ewan for his help and he's never as yet let us down.

Caleb is now 27months and recently had an accident I blogged about and after it he didn't want to be left alone in his cot at all that night. So I sat for hours cuddling and rocking a very tired very screamy boy. Every now and again I would try to lie him down and he would cling to my neck and scream. After 2 hours my husband came in and asked me why I hadn't tried his sheep and in my distress I had totally forgotten. I lay Caleb down, brought Ewan down to him and turned him on while sitting on the floor holding the little mans hand, within less than a minute he was asleep. I rest my case!!!!!

Recently when my sister had her little boy I gave him a Ewan as a gift and he adores him too. Any babies that are born from now on he will by my No1 gift idea. He's a must for any wanna be sane Mummies.

Ewan we love you and thank you Easidream.

My Favourite Spider

I am absolutely phobic about spiders. Completely totally and utterly. However, when I was looking through my old photos tonight I found this one of Caleb at 11 months and remembered, there's one spider out there who always makes me smile.

Alone Time is Good Time?

Something I've come to terms with over the last couple of days is that my kids don't need my constant attention at all available opportunity. Usually I feel bad if I go for a shower and don't let Caleb dot back and forward to me, or if I'm busy making dinner and he's all alone with just the television for company. When Sophie was his age I had extremely bad Post Natal Depression as I've said before and any timeout from being a mother was needed and I don't recall much of her life at Caleb's age. It's something I have eternal guilt over and probably overcompensate for it with them both now. I'm guilt ridden if I don't give them my constant attention when they need it.

Since we moved the rooms round upstairs though and Caleb has had more space to play he actually wants to be in his room. He's happy for anyone to play with him but also is so happy to be left alone and play. I spend the whole time checking on him though and even put my ipod in his room so he doesn't get lonely. He loves music and every now and again I peek round at him and he's dancing around his room and playing with his cars. But I still feel guilty that my boys alone and feel I should be in with him entertaining him and playing along side him. I sometimes worry that he thinks I've left him alone in the house and panics.

Snack, Juice and Music are the key.
Having such fun with his cars.

I wish I could just relax and let him have his alone time without the guilt or knots in my stomach.
